John Gregory's Story ...

The only information that is available to us at the moment, is the fact that John Gregory was a Staff Sergeant in the 83rd Infantry Division, the 331st Infantry Regiment, Company D.

According to survivors, John's company suffered a heavy German mortar attack. John was killed during that attack and several others were severely wounded. This action took place on January 13, 1945 near the Belgian town of Petite Langlir.

According to Jim Gregory (John's son), John's wife never remarried, she passed away in 1995. After her death Jim discovered an old trunk with all of his fathers letters and some pictures, from the time he was drafted until five days before his death. Jim was only one year old when his father was killed, but he knows that his father did see him for several months before his Division was sent to England ...

These days John Gregory rests in the beautiful American Military Cemetery at Henri-Chapelle ... He's remembered by his son Jim Gregory.

Special thanks to John's son Jim Gregory and to Mr. Roger Marquet
